Ratu Cantik England, Dr Bhasha Mukherjee sanggup membatalkan misi kerja amal di luar negara dan pulang ke negara asal untuk kembali berkhidmat sebagai doktor. Kata wanita berusia 24 tahun itu, dia mahu membantu dalam usaha perangai pandemik Covid-19 di UK.


Saya rasa bersalah memegang gelaran Ratu Cantik England ketika dunia berperang melawan pandemik COVID-19, termasuk rakan-rakan sekerja saya.”

Menurut Awani, dua tahun lepas Dr Bhasha dimahkotakan Miss England dan berehat dari karier utamanya sebagai doktor junior untuk beri fokus dalam pertandingan ratu cantik Miss World pada Disember 2019.

Sebelum berangkat semula ke UK, beliau berada di India sepanjang bulan lepas bagi mewakili sebuah komuniti kebajikan sebagai duta untuk memberikan bantuan kepada beberapa sekolah serta rumah kebajikan.

Medical school finals, miss England and then miss world… This year has been a year of preparing for exams one after another and I'm so glad I can finally take a breath ! So happy for all us girls who worked so hard , through blood sweat and tears , over coming so many personal battles and obstacles to put on the show last night ! Not every story i got to hear and not every story was highlighted perhaps but you all are warriors. Warriors fight not for themselves or personal gains but for a collective victory and that WE HAVE DONE ! Dr Bhasha berkata beliau ada dapat mesej daripada rakan-rakan di hospital lama beliau bekerja, Hospital Pilgrim di Boston di mana mereka menceritakan kepadanya keadaan sukar yang dilalui ketika pandemik Covid-19 ini melanda.

Bila kamu membuat aktiviti kemanusiaan di luar negara, kamu masih dianggap sebagai ratu cantik yang memakai mahkota, sentiasa bersedia untuk nampak menawan.”

Tetapi, saya teringin untuk pulang ke rumah. Saya teringin datang dan terus pergi bekerja.”

Pada asalnya, wanita kacukan India dan England ini sudah ada perancangan kerja-kerja kemanusiaan sehingga Ogos 2020. Beliau kemudian menghubungi pihak pengurusan hospital untuk menyampaikan hasratnya kembali bertugas sebagai pegawai perubatan.

Saya telah diundang untuk ke beberapa buah negara seperti Afrika, Turki, India, Pakistan juga negara-negara di Asia untuk menjadi duta kepada kerja-kerja amal.”

Tiada saat yang indah bagi saya untuk bergelar Ratu Cantik England sementara membantu di saat England memerlukan.”

Sehingga semalam, UK mencatatkan 51, 608 kes jangkitan dan 5,373 kematian akibat COVID-19. Inilah beauty with brain namanya…
